A-11 Packages for Spread Option Offenses:
Packages of A-11 play formations are perfect for teams running the
spread option offense. With some slight adjustments and
utilizing motion you can run all your same (2x2) and (3x1) passing
routes in A-11 formations. In the play below we tighten down
our ineligible (R) to help with our pass protection, run the (A) in
zoom motion and run a (1x3) Smash combination with Sprint motion.
This same concept can be applied to any route in your playbook.

The
Zone Running Game
Our "241"
A-11 formation lends itself perfectly to the spread option zone read
running and even passing game. A successful play for Piedmont
has been the "X Fly Zone Option" play. The
quarterback can give to the running back underneath or pull it and
run option on the Sam backer to the right. With so much open
space, your experienced linemen will do very well translating their
zone blocking techniques of the spread option to this A-11 play. You
can easily apply this formation to your passing game by sliding the
linemen right with the running back filling left. Remain in
the formation for your (2x2) route or utilize motion for (1x3)
routes. |

Another
Formation the 43!
The "43"
formation is another A-11 formation that gives the defenses
significant issues. The wall to the left is good for QB flares,
quick screens double passes, etc. You can apply this formation
to your spread option passing game by using (2) back motion in
either direction for (2x2) and (3x1) routes. In all the
examples shown on this page, all of the pass routes can be used on
all three different formations. This shows the power of the
A-11 Offense play packages. Multiple formations for the same
play. |
